After dating for 6 years, Jay & Megan excitedly exchanged vows. Today, this lovely couple is sharing their traditional American wedding with us!
Where was the ceremony held?
Noble Victory Memorial Chapel at the St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy (1101 Genesee Street, Delafield, WI 53018)
Where did you get ready for the big event?
I got ready at the salon that did my hair and make-up, Harlow’s Off Main. St. John’s didn’t have a getting ready room onsite so we opted for the salon.
How and where did you find your Rosa Clarà dress?
I found my Rosa Clara dress at Bucci’s Bridal in Pewaukee, WI. I had originally tried on the Ugo dress from the Soft line at a different bridal store and fell in love with it. After doing some research I found that Bucci’s carried Rosa Clara’s line. The Ulema dress was on display when I came for my appointment. The moment I tried it on I knew it was the one. I loved all the detail and sparkled! I hadn’t seen a wedding dress like it.
How about the complements you wore? (shoes, jewellery)
I kept my jewellery very simple. I didn’t want anything taking away from my gorgeous dress! For my shoes I wanted a little sparkle and found comfy/stylish shoes with a band of sparkle around the ankle.
Who made your bouquet? Which type of flowers did it have?
Magnolia Floral Shoppe
I had succulents, garden roses, roses, astilbe, dahlias, dusty miller and babysbreath.
Did you feel nervous?
I surprisingly didn’t feel nervous. Jay and I were ready to be married. We had dated for over 6 years so it was about time! I was more nervous at the rehearsal then the actual day of the wedding.
Which car did you use to take you to the church?
We took my sister’s car to the church. We all piled into two cars from the salon.
Where was the reception held?
The Legend at Brandybrook (1 Legend Way, Wales, WI 53183)
To whom did you give the bouquet?
It ended up going to a little girl, which in my mind was perfect. You are never too young to start dreaming of your big day!
Is there a special or fun moment you remember?
After taking pictures for a little while, Jay and I sat in a pew at St. John’s. It was the first moment we got to be alone after getting married. We both were very giddy with excitement and we couldn’t believe it was all over. It was probably the first time we were able to relax and know that we have the rest of our lives together.
Any original details in your wedding?
My ring and Jay’s ring were our grandmother’s/grandfather’s.
We also made paper flowers for our centrepieces. I try to be crafty!
Could you tell us and advise to the future brides?
I would invest money in your photographer and/or videographer. When the day is over, all you have left are your pictures and your dress. It goes by so fast, make sure you have someone who will capture your day perfectly.
