- Where and how he proposed?
It may seem that in the way my husband asked me to marry him was nothing special, but it was… at least for me!! It happened in my favourite restaurant, where they cooked and printed a Special menu for a Special Couple. And the ring was in an antique small porcelain box from England with two ducks painted on it. And when I’ve opened the box there was a sleave of old silk threads. And he put the thread around my finger and then I saw the ring slipping down. I think it’s not necessary to describe all my emotions and feelings at this moment.
- How did you find your dress?
Finding the proper dress was a long story. I checked some stores in Prague and was very disappointed with the choice here. The worst thing was that I had an idea of an ideal dress in my head!! I wanted to have a kind of “ballerina dress” – richly layered, and not floor length, something like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly had on the Oscar night. And I was almost desperate to find anything ready, so I was planning to sew it somewhere, but then I started searching for the pictures to create my own dress…. Found Rosa Clara web pages. And found the Rosal dress. And it was love from the first sight !! The last thing was where to buy it!! So I’ve tried Berlin and the dress was ordered (without any fittings) and made with my measurements.
- Who made the bouquet? What flowers did you have?
All the flower decorations we had were prepared by The metamorphosis flower shop. They have a very interesting style and a wide range of available flowers. For main flowers I’ve picked hydrangeas and peonies, then there were also eustomas, spray roses and eucalyptus leaves- they have a very pleasant emerald colour
- Where did the ceremony take place?
Our ceremony was held in a catholic cathedral of St. Ludmila in Prague. It was very important for me to have the ceremony there, by several reasons. First of all, it is situated on the square where we first met. And the second reason is my personal, this name and this saint mean a lot to me.
- Did you get nervous?
Of course I did!! I was very very nervous. It started one week before the wedding when some things that were carefully planned went wrong. Few days before the wedding I was even more nervous when I found out that it will be the coldest day of summer and we had everything organized on the open air. With the help of my friends I finally understood that I could do nothing with it and I had to relax now, and they will take care about all of the problems. So I bought a special tea to calm down my nerves and stopped thinking about the problems.
- What was the most emotional moment?
The most emotional moment was during the ceremony, especially the end of it. And the speech of my grandparents.
- What about the shoes?
Shoes were bought before the dress. I knew that my dress won’t be long so I was looking for extraordinary shoes. I tried several boutiques and find them in Dior. They were standing and looking on me with their beautiful heels))) And it was exactly what I needed, I can’t imagine anything more beautiful to match me on my wedding day.
- Any special or funny moment you remember?
- Any ideas or original details from your wedding?
In order to entertain our guests during the reception, we made a small exhibition with 10 pictures – Love through the centuries. Before the wedding we picked 10 paintings where there were couples and which showed different centuries and styles. Then our photographer made our portraits with similar head positions, and we’ve put our faces instead of the original once. On the reception there were easels with the framed pictures and it was very interesting for our guests and funny also, because we’ve tried to make it with humour also. After the wedding we gave these pictures as presents, everyone chosen his favourite one!!
- What was the waltz song?
The song was Moonriver and we decided that we will dance with the live music. It was more complicated, but we did it!
- Any advice for the future brides?
I think it is very important to make a list of everything you need to prepare for your wedding. And think of the main idea – then it will be easier to put everything together. But then you have to prepare yourself that no matter how carefully you plan everything, the week before the wedding many things may change)) That’s why it is very important that your friends must take part in your wedding preparations (have the list of all to do things with phone numbers) so they may help you with these unpredictable problems before or during your wedding day, so you can just relax and enjoy the day.
