Paula and Edu, a truly original couple, tell us about the happiest day of their lives. It was even better than they had imagined! Want to know why?
I am fom Benidorm and my new husband, Edu, is from Madrid.
We met 16 summers ago, in college on the English countryside of Padworth, United Kingdom. We felt a connection the moment our eyes locked, but didn’t experience our first kiss for another year alongside a romantic lake.
After ten years of visiting one another and sending letters we finally realized we already found what we were looking for. So five years later we became more than friends. We immediately fell in love and our tale became our favourite love story.
We lived in Madrid and later moved to Benidorm, where we currently reside.
Last June was the 15th anniversary of our first kiss. Edu surprised me with a trip to Padworth, and asked me to marry him by that very same lake. He knows that I treasure age-old things. My engagement ring was a beautiful relic from the 50th century. With the assistance of a friend he was able to find it in an antiquary in Madrid. The ring had six bright brilliants forming a flower.
We enjoyed planning our special wedding. We wanted to create an intimate environment where all our guests could feel comfortable, like home. We had the perfect place for it: my parent´s home in Benidorm, where I grew up.
After an online search and falling in love with wedding decorator Paloma, from “Paloma Cruz Events” work, we booked an appointment with her. Our wedding would not have been successful without her. She assisted us with every aspect of the wedding planning process-from invitations to wedding bouquet and the décor seen on our wedding day.
Searching for my dress was so exciting!!!! I did not want the quintessential wedding dress. I wanted sophisticated separates: a flared skirt and a simple top. I found a model from Rosa Clarà and scheduled an appointment. The model Cordoba was a simple and sleek ball gown accented with a bow. When I saw it I fell in love and I knew that it was my dress.
I also wanted a second dress for the reception. I came up with an efficient and budget-friendly option: a short skirt accented with a little bow at the waist. It was perfect because I only had to change the skirt.
Choosing my wedding bouquet was a difficult decision for me, but Paloma help me through it. I finally chose a pretty feathery astilbe bouquet in the same color of my shoes. The result was spectacular. The florist “La Trastienda” took care for all the details that added a romantic and slightly whimsical touch to my complete look.
I wore my mother´s earrings and Australian pearls. I wore my hair in a low bun and adorned it with a beautiful crystal silver tiara.
The most difficult decision was choosing a photographer. We wanted a specific style, and after searching the internet we chose “Boda & Films and Pablo Laguia”. Two months before our big day, they captured our pre-wedding photos during a fantastic afternoon. We knew that they were exactly what we were looking for because the final job was amazing.
Cocktail hour took place outdoors in the garden and dinner in the indoor dining area. After dinner we danced until sunrise. Edu surprisingly serenated me with our song, “Time of our life”.
Without a doubt all was better than we could imagine-the best day of our life.
